Hydrostatic pressure tester, it is used to measure the water penetration resistance of fabrics under hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic test can include in those kinds of fabrics, such as canvas, coated fabrics, cover cloth, rainproof clothing fabrics, and geotextile materials, and films to water penetration under pressure while firmly clamped in the test rig of standard area.
Hydrostatic pressure testing is performed by sealing off a pressure vessel except for a single entry port. Deionized water is poured into the chamber until it is full of water. The chamber is oriented in such a way to eliminate the presence of trapped air inside the vessel. A hydraulic pump cart is then attached to the vessel in order to bring it up to a pre-determined test pressure.
The pressure used in hydrostatic pressure testing is always considerably more than the operating pressure to give the customer a margin for safety. Typically the test is performed at 150 percent of the design or working pressure. For example, if a pipe was rated to a working pressure of 2000 PSI, it would be tested at 3000 PSI to ensure reliability.
